God, this was so good. As a hypervigilant pattern-brained perceptive person who doesn't understand why people lie and only has a filter because of masking, I feel so seen, lol.
It really means a lot that you felt seen. Truly. That line between being perceptive and being “too much” can get twisted so quickly. And I keep thinking about who benefits from that
Thanks, Sydney. Yes intoxicating until it isn’t, that’s the trap. The narrative feels comfortable at first, and then you realize there’s a price. I really appreciate you taking the time to read it so thoughtfully.
I love how you beautifully capture the delicate struggle between perceiving the truth and navigating human compromise. It’s a profound exploration of insight as both a gift and a burden.
It’s a difficult balance to write about, I kept wondering whether insight protects us or isolates us. I’m glad that tension came through. Thank you for reading.
Your story fits into that expression that seems to excuse everyone except the person it’s aimed at: “you’re too sensitive.” What does that even mean? I wondered for years, then I refused to think about it because it sounded… sick. Many people tend to slap labels on others simply because they refuse to see—or worse, to feel. I really liked your story (not that that’s a surprise :)).
That phrase carries so much weight, doesn’t it? It gets used as if it explains everything, and somehow explains nothing. Thank you for reading so thoughtfully, as always ☺️

Sorry it took me so long to read. You are a phenomenal writer. You create tension and execute dialogue wonderfully.
No worries at all, I’m just really glad you read it ☺️ Thank you so much for your kind words!
Pathologizing truth tellers 101. The lie is always easier for so many isn't it? It's intoxicating and feels like what everyone else is doing.
Until it isn't.
Very few writers hold my attention. This piece was incredible.
Would love your thoughts on my pieces. I also write about truth. My name is Sydney.

Exactly...there’s no doubt this is a truly profound piece. Thank you for your kind words.

You really helped me feel what the character was feeling, thank you.
Thank you for saying that 🙏
A brilliantly uncomfortable read!
Thank you! Yes, that kind of uncomfortable where everyone seems reasonable, and something still feels off.
